On January 23, 2024, at 00:09, an earthquake occurred, which was felt even in Bishkek. The estimated magnitude ranged from 6.2 to 7 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the area of Lake Issyk-Kul, 126 kilometers southeast of the settlement of Kyzyl-Suu in Kyrgyzstan.
